Bear Lake

Event production in Bear Lake.

Bear Lake gets busier every summer with family reunions, lakeside company parties, and corporate retreats around Garden City and Laketown. It is about two hours from our shop, and once you are up there, there is almost nothing available to rent locally.

What we do in Bear Lake

  • Lakeside sound that holds up against wind coming off the water
  • Silent disco for rental house parties where the cabins sit close together
  • Lighting and staging for beach, lawn, and pavilion setups
  • Flat travel from Farmington, roughly two hours each way

Venues we know out here: Garden City lakefront venues, Bear Lake State Park sites, and private cabins and lodges.

Why Bear Lake

These are the events people remember

Bear Lake events feel different than most of what is on our calendar. Reunions where four generations show up, company parties where nobody is wearing a suit, and a schedule that runs on lake time, which usually means it starts late and ends later.

We like being the reason that works. A reunion with real sound instead of a phone propped in a bowl is a completely different night, and it costs less than most people assume before they ask.

It is two hours up and two hours back, and it has been worth it every time. The only real advice we have is to book earlier than you think you need to.

Lakeside logistics

Wind, sand, and close neighbors

Most of the problems at a Bear Lake event come back to wind. It comes off the water most afternoons, it is stronger than it looks from the deck, and it causes three things at once. It knocks over speaker stands, it makes outdoor speech hard to follow, and it carries your music over to whoever is a couple of cabins down.

We ballast every stand, aim the system with the wind in mind rather than just pointing it at the crowd, and use mics for speeches that reject wind instead of amplifying it. None of that is complicated, it just has to be decided before the truck gets packed.

Sand

Sand gets into connectors and faders and stays there. Anything going near the beach gets covered and kept up off the ground, and it all gets cleaned when it comes back to the shop.

Neighbors

Rental houses at the lake sit close together, so a party that sounds great at 10pm is somebody else's complaint at 10:05. Headphones solve that completely. The dance floor stays as loud as your group wants and nothing carries across the yard.

A short season

The lake has a limited number of good weekends and everybody wants the same ones. July and August book out early, both for us and for the rental houses up there, so it is worth asking sooner than feels necessary.

Travel to Bear Lake is one flat line on the quote, and the gear is priced at the same published rates as a job in town.

Questions we get often

Do you serve Bear Lake, Garden City, and Laketown?

Yes, all summer. Travel from our shop in Farmington is about two hours and gets quoted as one flat line.

What works for a party where the cabins are close together?

Silent disco. Everybody is on LED headphones, so the dance floor can run as long as you want without any of it reaching the neighbors.

Can your gear handle being on the beach?

Yes, as long as we know ahead of time. We cover connections, keep everything up off the sand, and clean it all when it comes back.

How far ahead should we book a summer weekend?

Early. The season is short and July and August fill up fast, for us and for the rental houses up there.

Is there anywhere local to rent gear if we come up short?

Not really, and that is worth knowing. Whatever the event needs comes up with us, which is why we ask a lot of questions about your plans first.
