Brick and altitude

Working in older rooms, and working up the canyon

A lot of what makes Ogden venues great to look at also makes them harder to mix in. Brick walls, tall ceilings, and hard floors give you a long reverb tail, and a system that sounds fine outdoors can turn a historic room into mush if nobody takes the time to tune it.

The fix is usually about coverage rather than volume. If the speakers are aimed at people instead of walls and the low end is kept under control, a room that echoes for a couple of seconds can still sound clear. That is the difference between a speech everybody follows and one where half the room gives up.

Resort dates up the canyon

Snowbasin and Powder Mountain are a different situation. You are at elevation, weather can change your plan, and it is not a drive you want to make twice because something got left on the bench. We pack spares for mountain dates, plan battery options where power is limited, and build extra time into the schedule so a slow load-in does not cut into your program.

Outdoor events downtown

For outdoor dates in Ogden there are usually three things to settle early: where front of house can safely sit, what power is available, and how much wind we should plan around. Once those are answered the rest is straightforward.

Ogden pricing is the same as our Salt Lake pricing. There is no travel fee for Weber County.

Why Ogden

Ogden has turned into a good event town

Ogden has changed a lot over the last couple of decades. Twenty five years ago nobody was booking a gala on 25th Street, and now there are rooms down here with more character than most of what is available downtown.

We like the variety. In the same month we might do a conference at the Eccles, a concert in a brick room where the sound has to be shaped carefully, and a corporate day up at a resort where the view is most of the reason people came. Not many markets this size ask for that range.

It also helps that we are about fifteen minutes closer to Ogden than we are to downtown Salt Lake. Same crew, same gear, same rates, shorter drive.

Questions we get often

Do you serve Ogden and Weber County?

Yes, with no travel fee. Our shop in Farmington sits between Ogden and Salt Lake, so these are easy dates for us to cover.

Can you do sound at Snowbasin or Powder Mountain?

Yes, and we work up there year round. We plan battery options where power is limited, build in extra time for the load-in, and pack spares because it is a long way back down.

Our venue is an old brick room. Is it going to sound bad?

Not if the system is sized and aimed for the room. Tell us where you are and we will spec coverage that fits it instead of just bringing bigger speakers.

Do you cover outdoor events downtown?

Yes, from small block parties up to full concert scale. Power, wind, and where front of house sits are the things we want to settle early.

Can we pick gear up instead of paying for delivery?

Yes, and it is the cheapest way to rent from us. Farmington is about 20 minutes south of Ogden and pickup runs 8am to 1pm.
